WAC Board Meeting
February 5, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7pm. All board members and Coach Jen Slauson were present.

The minutes from the 1/8/07 WAC board meeting were approved and will be posted to the website.

Ray Scheve reported that our application for tax exemption was approved by the IRS and we were waiting for the official notice from them.

Ray reported updates regarding the GetWYRD.org group. They need seed money to help cover start-up costs for their organization. The board agreed to donate to their cause of getting a sports complex in Waukee.

Jen Slauson reported on the U14 team. Some of the players eligible for U14 will be playing U16. The WAC plans to support the U14 team. The WAC will look into the possibility of hiring a coach for this team. Ray Scheve will be the U14 Director.

Beth Potts gave the board a finance report.

Tara Inghram reported that the D & O Insurance is in place and she has a copy of the policy.

Lucy Tennant, Tim Iversen, Perry Young and Jaynette Rittman spoke about the coaches’ meeting. The coaches would like some clarification regarding what the team funds can and can not be spent on. They would also like details about what the WAC fees are used for. Tara will put something on the website in this regard. The coaches also mentioned they would like the opportunity to have an open forum time at the beginning of the WAC board meeting to address the board with any questions or suggestions they may have. The WAC board agreed this was a good idea, and it was approved. A coach asked if individual team pages could be available on the WAC website. Tara will take care of creating team web pages.

A discussion was held on how to handle some new players who want to join the WAC U10 program, and other player situations.

Perry Young reported that the new uniform shirts and shorts will cost around $50.

Tim Iversen will look into statistics software.

Lisa Giudici & Tonia Zimmerman gave WAC tournament updates. WAC Board members were assigned to head up tournament duties:

U8 & U10 Developmental teams were discussed. The board decided to form U8 & U10 developmental teams to compliment the Waukee recreational program. The U8 & U10 developmental teams will play games & tournaments after the Recreational season ends in early June. We will also offer clinics for these new players.
